As with most big projects, your best bet is to break everything into much smaller parts and work on it every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Writing Your Book Yourself<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Several authors use this method to get their book written:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create a 2-3 sentence description of your book.<\/li><li>Brainstorm a list of questions your book will answer.<\/li><li>Turn your questions into chapters.<\/li><li>Write out short 500-word answers to those chapters.<\/li><li>Each day build on a chapter from the day before.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Regardless of whether you will write your book yourself or use a ghostwriter, having this type of outline will be immeasurably helpful and keep your whole team focused on the scope of the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ghostwriter\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Using a Ghostwriter<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re feeling stuck or can\u2019t seem to move forward, you can use a ghostwriter to write your book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">What is a ghostwriter?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ghostwriter is a freelance writer who specializes in writing books for other people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">How much does it cost to hire a ghostwriter?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will definitely need to have more money than time to hire a ghostwriter. Fantasy, sci-fi, and epic novel writers should be forewarned.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">For a 120,000-word book, your editing costs could be:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Developmental editing: $.08 per word, or $9,600 total<\/li><li>Basic copyediting: $.018 per word, or $2,160 total<\/li><li>Proofreading: $.0113, or $1,356 total<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Craft a Book Title That People Want to Read<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The title, cover and back cover and table of contents are the top three things that most influence a reader about your book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good book title can mean the difference between a flop and a best seller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are dozens of examples of books that started out with one title and dismal sales and finished with another title and flourishing sales. &nbsp;Here are just a few:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Casanova and His Loves sold 8,000 but Casanova, History\u2019s Greatest Lover sold more than 22,000.<\/li><li>The Mystery of the Iron Mask sold a respectable 11,000 a year but when changed to The Mystery of the Man in the Iron Mask, over 30,000 were sold that year.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few tips and tricks on crafting the perfect book title that sells your expertise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Be specific:<\/span>&nbsp;You\u2019re not Stephen King or Brian Tracy (at least not yet), so it\u2019s a good idea to use your topic keyword in the title. &nbsp;In other words, tell your audience exactly what the book is about. &nbsp;Here are a few examples of best selling titles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Fanocracy: Turning Fans into Customers and Customers<\/span>&nbsp;into Fans by David Meerman Scott<\/li><li><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Non Obvious Megatrends: How to See What Others Miss and Predict the Future <\/span>by Rohit Bhargava<\/li><li><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Do It! Speaking: 77 Instant-Action Ideas to Market, Monetize, and Maximize Your Expertise<\/span>&nbsp;by David Newman<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Notice how all of these book titles are descriptive enough to give you a good idea of what the book is about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Keep them short:<\/span>&nbsp;The basic formula is a one-three word title with an expanded description. So, when I say keep it short, I mean keep them short enough so that you can get the whole title into a social media post such as a Tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Make it easy to remember<\/span>: Since a lot of your marketing and promotion will be word-of-mouth, you want to make your book title relatively easy to remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Play around with common phrases<\/span>: A fun place to start with common phrases is an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theidioms.com\/\" data-lasso-id=\"943\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">idiom dictionary.<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;Explore existing phrases and play around with changing them around just enough to create a fun and memorable book title. Also consider common quotes or sayings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Tease the audience:<\/span>&nbsp;Play around with the idea of grabbing the audience\u2019s attention with your title. &nbsp;One of my favorite examples is a Ryan Holiday book called <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Trust Me, I\u2019m Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator<\/span>. &nbsp;The \u201cTrust me, I\u2019m Lying\u201d part of the title combines two opposites while \u201cconfessions of a media manipulator\u201d begs a ton of questions like; what are you going to confess? How did you manipulate the media? Did I fall for it? At the same time, you don\u2019t have to spend a small fortune on a book cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to save yourself some money on book cover design is to do some preparation work ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Create a \u201cBook Cover Inspiration\u201d folder.<\/span>&nbsp;When you hire a book cover designer, they will ask you for \u201cinspiration\u201d photos or ideas. &nbsp;So, you might as well start with that in mind.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Research book covers<\/span>. Head over to bookstores or Amazon and review other books in your genre. &nbsp;Snap pictures of images that capture your attention and make notes on what you like; typography, colors, images, etc.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Brainstorm your own ideas based on your research<\/span>. What emotions or ideas do you want your book to convey? Search images and typography that best match your ideas. Save these images to your inspiration folder.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Enroll a few friends<\/span>&nbsp;who have read your book and grab some of their ideas. &nbsp;You can ask simple questions like \u201cAfter reading the book, what images come to mind?
